Job description:

Build positive rapport and relationships with clients and fellow employees.

Consult with customers that call, email, text, or walk into the shop.

Create invoices, schedule work, sell needed service and repair, source and order parts, collect payments.

Track bills and inventory and fill in where needed.

Manage work flow and employees.

Customer service skills:

Service Advisors deal with suppliers, provide estimates and schedule appointments, so being courteous and friendly is essential. They also need to be able to handle customer complaints diplomatically and politely.

Communication skills:

As a liaison between the customer and technician, a Service Advisor needs to be able to clearly explain the technician’s repair recommendations to customers while communicating customer needs to technicians.

Comprehension skills:

Service Advisors should be able to comprehend customers’ questions and concerns as well as what is being said when technicians give complex service recommendations.

Troubleshooting skills:

Service Advisors need to be able to think on their feet and quickly resolve issues when customers change their minds about service work, repairs are running behind schedule or parts arrive late.

Math and writing skills:

Service Advisors prepare and calculate estimates so having good math and writing skills is an essential part of the job.

Lube Tech Duties and Responsibilities

Daily duties performed by lube techs vary greatly depending on the types of vehicles they service and the number of customers. The essential job tasks performed by lube techs, however, are universally the same in all auto shops.

Lubricate Vehicles

Lube techs lubricate all moving engine parts of vehicles by rubbing specific lubricants onto these engine parts.

Clean Engines

Lube techs clean engine parts to remove grime and buildup, and apply lubricant to these parts to restore them back to good working order.

Inspect Vehicles

Lube techs perform vehicle inspections that include examining and testing multiple points of interest on the vehicle, and checking thoroughly for oil leaks. This includes checking all fluid levels in the vehicle, including windshield washing liquid.

Inspect Tires

Lube techs check vehicle tires and test the air pressure.

Change Oil

Lube techs drain existing oil from vehicles and replace it with new oil, ensuring that the proper type of oil is used. 

Replace Filters

Lube techs replace filters in the engine, including air filters and oil filters.

Check Electrical Components

Lube techs check electrical components on vehicles, such as testing the horn and the lights.

Make Recommendations

Lube techs make recommendations for further service on vehicles based on inspections.

 Follow Safety Procedures

Lube techs follow all company and common-sense safety practices, such as turning engines on only when in a well-ventilated area and ensuring that vehicles are in the right gear before the ignition is turned.

Maintain Cleanliness

Lube techs keep their work areas and customer vehicles clean at all times, and clean up after themselves as they perform their various job tasks.

Lube Tech Skills and Qualifications

Lube techs are professionals who work with their hands and perform many physical tasks to check, clean, and add fluids to vehicle engines of all types. Employers hire lube techs who have the skills necessary to perform all the different tasks associated with this job.

Communication – lube techs work in a collaborative environment, which requires strong verbal communication skills

Time-management – lube techs use time-management skills to perform many tasks within a tight deadline and maintain maintenance schedules for all vehicles

POSITION SUMMARY:

BigHorn Automotive is expanding rapidly and we are looking to hire an ASE Certified Automotive Technician to join our team. This individual should have verifiable experience as an auto mechanic on cars, light trucks & jeeps. This individual is passionate about automotive maintenance and performs all work to the highest industry standard. If you love hard work that includes diagnosing, maintaining & and repairing customer vehicles, we want you on our team! This position reports to the General Manager

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform maintenance and repair on customer vehicles
• Identify problems with vehicles using appropriate diagnostic equipment
• Explain automotive repairs and issues and provide great customer service
• Plan repair procedures using charts manuals and experience
• Test the functionality of parts and systems
• Perform basic auto care and maintenance tasks such as oil changes, fluid level checks, and tire rotation
• Repair and replace brake pads wheel bearings, sensors and other parts
• Perform routine maintenance and general mechanic work on vehicles
• Prepared to get additional certification as needed
• Willingness to learn with hands-on training
• Keep a professional appearance
• Keep and maintain a tidy workstation
• Communicate and comply with direction provided by the General Manager
• Supply your own personal diagnostic and hand tools
• Any other duties as assigned by the General Manager

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Automotive and engine repair experience or auto mechanic training required
• Current B-Level ASE certifications required
• Possess and maintain a valid drivers license
• Must have and maintain a clean motor vehicle report
• Ability to maintain a professional appearance and provide friendly customer service
• Must read, interpret and transcribe data in order to maintain accurate records
• Must be able to speak, read & write in english
• Perform routine maintenance and other tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Must be able to lift objects frequently that weigh as much as 50lbs - 100lbs
• Experience as a lube technician, or be prepared to do on-the-job training
• Understanding of automotive theory, technology & components
• Must be able to operate diagnostic equipment
• Must have good hand-eye coordination

BONUS QUALIFICATIONS:

• Possess an associates degree related to the auto maintenance & repair field or similar
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Bilingual in Spanish
